Claude on the web
A website. You open a tab, type, and Claude types back. That's it. This is where 95% of people meet Claude — and for a lot of family use, it's perfect.
What it is
A browser tab at claude.ai. Free to start. Like a smarter, calmer ChatGPT. You type a question, paste an email, drop in a screenshot — Claude responds.
What it's great at
- Conversation. Asking, drafting, thinking out loud.
- Quick uploads. Drop in a PDF, a photo, a contract — ask questions about it.
- Projects. Group related chats and give Claude a few documents as background.
- "Artifacts." Side-by-side preview when Claude writes a doc, a checklist, or even a tiny webpage.
Where it falls short
- It can't touch your computer. No editing your files. No running anything for you.
- You have to copy stuff in and out. Every loop is: paste, read, copy. It adds friction.
- One chat at a time. No "doing five things at once."
How to sign up (60 seconds)
- Go to claude.ai.
- Sign in with Google or your email.
- Type your first question.
